Drawings

Welcome to my drawing gallery. There are hand-drawn landscapes and animals, most often inspired by polar regions that have fascinated me for many years. Some works are more realistic, while others are free interpretations of places, memories and experiences from the far North.

The technique that I use most often is black fineliner on paper. The contrast between black and white – or perhaps more accurately, between line and the absence of line – has become my favorite way of telling stories about the Arctic. The northen landscape itself is raw, minimalist anf full of contrasts separated by very thin boundary: darkness and light, night and day, snow and rocks, ice and water, predator and prey, life and death.

Although I often return to similar themes and recurring motifs, each drawing remains an original work. Every piece differs from the previous one in subtle details, reflecting the fact that nature itself is never static and never exactly repeats itsef.
